Do they twist in instead? I have seen those funky brake caliper tools that look like a block of metal with little nipples poking off of it. I thought that was for screwing the pistons in on rear brake calipers.

Oh wait, I have a service manual, hang on a sec... Nope, looks like they slide. Manual says to "Bottom pistons in caliper bore with C-clamp. Place an old brake shoe between the clamp and caliper piston. "

Sorry I'm not more help. I thought there might be a trick listed in the manual. No such luck.

We've done a brake job on our 04... . we had problems with the boots being damaged by heat..... they were cracked and had let dirt past them... . we tried to put the caliper in a vice with a chunk of wood in the center and using air blow the pistons out... .

In any case we found 1 of the pistons damaged from the dirt and grinding against the seal... . truck had 160K miles and the first brake job... . We knocked them out and replaced them... ... of course we kitted the calipers as well... .

Look at the boots... . if they are fine. . you should be able to compress the pistons with a c-clamp..... and when this happens it pushes the piston back in straight.....

Hope this helps... .
