Brake light issue

Running out of things to check. My 97 the high mount brake light is working but I’ve got no brake lights on the box. Any ideas would be much appreciated

Should be same circuit as rear stoplights. If you have checked the bulbs then it could be a loose wire somewhere. Do the turn signals work? There is a 15A fuse, #17 I think. If you have the trailer tow there may be a fuse for each sides?

Yep the turn signals work and have checked all fuses

The left and right brake light circuit goes through the turn signal switch, that wire shows to be 18ga white going into the turn signal switch and 18ga dark green and 18ga brown coming out. If you can find these in the wire loom going into the steering column you should be able to determine if the switch is the problem..

I had a problem recently with "just" the left rear brake light, e-flasher & turn signal not working. What an RPIA to figure out! Ended up being grounded out wire (insulation wore and shorted out) on the rear inner frame rail in the area where the spare is stored. I had to remove the spare, strip tape from the harness, locate and repair (solder and heat-shrink) the worn area, re-tape harness, etc.

If you have the tow package( receiver under bumper) the box that have the trailer mite connectors mite have some corrosion on them. They mite be separate wiring from the trucks back lights, but I would check that out.

Thank you for your help. I unplugged the turn signal switch to check the connection and when I plugged it back in the brake lights worked again!!
