Anyone help me with the brake light switch, I think its causing me problems from what I've read here, but I am not sure how to adjust it.

My transmission is going into and out of lockup in OD a lot and if I hit a bump such as RR tracks with cruise on, it will jump out of cruise. Help is greatly appreciated!!!!!!

Brake switch is located at the far end of the brake pedal arm. Two wires, maybe more. To check adjustment have someone watch the brake lights in the rear of the truck and gently push the pedal down. If they alert you almost immediatley you may need to adjust it. I don't have my shop manual here. If you need it I can check and get back to you tomorrow.

I think there is a six wire connector on the switch. The adjustment is pretty easy if you have the manual. Not obvious if you don't. The manual also have the instructions for checking out each of the circuits with your meter.

Thanks, guys, I checked it out in the manual and you are correct. The switch sits at the top of the brake pedal arm and has a six wire connector going into it. It can be turned and pulled out of the slot. I don't have the equipment to check mine out, but I did perform the adjustment as indicated, which is to pull the switch out as far as it will go, then push back in 4 clicks. put everything back together and then pull your brake pedal back to normal position. First time, something wasn't right because truck never went into lockup and cruise would not engage. I adjusted again and its back to the way it was before, guess I will replace the switch.
