(R) Front caliper was sticking the other night on the way home from work, so this morning I went to Carquest and bought 2 rebuilt calipers, all 3 rubber hoses and a couple pints of synthetic DOT3. Everything was going fine until I got to the rear line. The old hard line snapped off just behind the flare connection. I cut the line in front of the fuel tank where it was still in good shape and crimped it. While I was traveling back to the part store for hard line and a flaring tool the reservoir drained itself in my wifes carport. Fortunately the brakefluid washes off concrete better than I thought but after working over the bleeder screws several times I still don't have the consistent pedal I had before. All the posts I've searched say not to let the master cylinder run dry but what do you do if it does. I used a mightyvac to begin w/ then got my wife to work the pedal until all the fluid was clear. Any suggestions that don't involve purchasing fancy bleeding devices would be appreciated. The truck is a '94 2wd rear antilock

You need to bleed the master cylinder. At the parts store, they have 2 flex lines to run from the lines back into the resevoir. Pump the pedal till no air then hook the lines back up and bleed the lines starting from the RR then LR then RF then LF. then should be good.

You can also bleed it by cracking the lines at the master. A little quicker since it's installed and the rest of the system is mostly bled.
