I have a 1998 2500 12 valve with ABS.

The bake lines (3) that go into what I assume is an ABS apparatus has a strange looking flare on it.

Is this flare 1/2 of a double flare? (for lack of a better description).

Is this what's called a bubble flare, and can I do this with a double flare tool set?

TIA

I can't say since there is no picture of the flare. But there are only three types of flares per SAE: the 37 deg single, the 45 deg single and the 45 deg double flare where the parent material is bent back on itself. Sometimes there is a flare insert that maybe used when the joint is over tighten and the flare has been spread apart some. The manufacture is trying to save the tube assembly from being scrapped, so the insert is used under the spread flare on the tube assembly. It will leak in the future just takes a little longer.

Can you measure the angle of the fitting on the ABS valve this should tell you what type of flare you have?
