I have a 1998 2500 12 valve with ABS.

The bake lines (3) that go into what I assume is an ABS apparatus has a strange looking flare on it.

Is this flare 1/2 of a double flare? (for lack of a better description).

Is this what's called a bubble flare, and can I do this with a double flare tool set?

TIA

Bubble Flare. You will need a different tool. I picked mine up a parts store, just went with an imported set. If you are using the copper/nickle alloy brake line it is real easy to do a bubble flare.

I can take a picture of the kit tonight when I get home if you need me to.

I really don't know if you could do it with a regular tool and have it seat properly.

Others may have done it with success but when dealing with brakes I prefer the right tool.

I just went through this on my Wife's '98 Durango. It has bubble flares too. They DO make short adapter lines from whatever size metric nut bubble to 3/16 inv. flare, to use if you're in a jam. The line was 3/16 strangely enough. I used this tool. It's the bees knees.

Here is what I bought, brand is ATD.

Good enough for the DIY guy.
