My 1998 1/2 Dodge Ram 2500 is pulling left on hard braking. If I brake hard and it pulls and then let up the pedal and brake again it does not pull. It seems to be worse when pulling an RV with weight. I have changed both front calibers. I checked adjustments on the truck brakes and on the trailer brakes. I don't think it is the trailer brakes. Any help?

I agree with Black-Smoker, I had the exact same problem. It turned out to be a leaking rear axle seal, when you braked hard it would clear it up for a while. Look for leaking grease. Good luck

Check your ball joints, sounds like the lower one on that side maybe bad. Years ago I had a Chevy van that would almost jerk you off the road when you hit the brakes hard. Had a bad lower ball joint on the side that pulled.

Hey Jack - welcome to the TDR. Is your truck a 4 X 4? Need to add info to your profile more we have the better we can help in a pinch.

I'm assuming you smoothed down and bumps with a file and greased the flat mating surfaces and bolt/pins when you installed the calipers? I agree with the others with checking your rear breaks.

When I first bought mine it pulled like crazy too - I learned what to do right here on the good ol' TDR. I had to replace calipers, r/rear axel seal and rear shoes to get it to stop straight. To keep it stopping straight I need to regrease the calipers every so often. If there was a spacer between the wheel and the rotor, and you took it off - try replacing it on the same side it was removed. Good luck.

The brake hoses to the front wheels sometime collapse inside and partially plug causing the brakes to not release or not apply as they should, if this is the case, since it doesn't pull on the second application it could be the right hose. bg
