:) I Was in the dealer today to get the recall on the throttle cable and the one for the key switch don.

I got the chance to talk to one of the mechanics about the brake problems I have seen on here over and over several times.

He said he has fixed several of them by filing the space beween the caliper and the steering knuckle sliding surface, to a gap of 4 thousands, or more. If it has any less it will bind.

Measure the 4 thousands with feeler gauges from the outside. The gap you are trying to measure is where the caliper slides in the holder, that is bolted on to the spindle.

Hey I am game to try anything at this point. Mine will change lanes if I get on the brakes hard and don't have both hands on the wheel.

I have done the lubing the pins and just about everything else that has been tryed here on TDR.

I should have my new digital camera this week. I will try to do this brake deal over the weekend and post pics of what and where to measure and if it works or not.

Maybe this is the long awaited fix. LOL

I can see the possibility here but the wheel rotation and hard braking will put all the stress on the slider bushings and pins. We have always lubed the caliper ends and brackets with a lube such as anti seize or equivelent. Is this 4 thou on both ends of the caliper?---Sam

My understanding is that the . 004 is between the caliper and the bracket that holds it. I will post pics, soon as I get into mine and check it. I will also let you all know if it makes any diff. He said that the bracket was too tight and that caused it to bind and not let off after braking. so the next time it was already close and grabbed faster than the other side. and also let the pads wear out faster too.

I will post what I find just as soon as I get into it.

;)

That's very interesting. I'm eager to see the pictures although I know what you are talking about. I noticed when I recently changed pads that the passenger side was tighter than the drivers side. I'm not having any brake pull problems right now but I have had a problem in the past. If I do have a problem again I'll check for the . 004 clearance on the bracket you mentioned.
