OK, yesterday my daughter was driving my 2004 TD, 4 wd, w/ 235K, 1st gen.
She called me to say the 'brake' and ABS lights just came on, but brakes worked fine. We parked it w/ the idea a sensor had failed.
Any ideas, experience, advice ???? No codes w/ a scanner.

the abs sensors can be tested with an ohm meter.... an open sensor will be infinite with a good sensor showing some resistance...

I've seen several of these go out.... I'd personally test them and lube the hubs at the same time...

Did she notice if the speedo was jumping around that would cause it too. speed sensor on top of rear end.

There are codes for sure - but you need a decent scanner to show them - Autoenginuity for example.

Most if the time it will be the sensor at the rear differential, but it can also be a bad connection at the abs block - that was where mine had the problem, not so common but possible.
