2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Brake question

Attention: TDR Forum Junkies
To the point: Click this link and check out the Front Page News story(ies) where we are tracking the introduction of the 2025 Ram HD trucks.

Thanks, TDR Staff

Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) How many miles do you have on your APPS?

Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 181's or 191's on 160 with 370's?

Ok, Hate to admit it but I have been too busy to do anything except change my oil since August. Spending too much time building my new house and not enough time maintaining my truck. Anyway, think my brakes are past due for new pads. I expect to find rotor damage when I pull the wheel. What is everyone running for brakes these days. I would like to buy better than OEM if I gatta buy something.

Thanks:eek:

Brake pads

I got the bendix pads last time and though more expensive ($64)have gone almost 40K and still have life left, I don't pull to often when I do it is boats weighing 4,000-7,000lbs. Good luck with the house

EGR kit is doing well for me

took care of my pull problem too. Just for this it was worth the kit.

But on the 99 watch out. IT WAS A BIG PAIN IN THE A$$ to change the rotors. Be prepaired and paitent. But of course I am not a mechanic, you are probably going to do the job in 2 hours where it took me 2 days... :D

When I was doing it I posted a couple of questions on the list. Search for those threads for more details.

Did you feel the EGR brakes were worth the dollars? Not ready for a PIA job at this point but if they gotta go well it would be nice to bolt somethin better in thier place.

Thanks

yes, it was worth the money. I have better rear brakes as well because I have disabled the load sensing and have > 1ton cylendars.

Brakes were a big issue when I put a camper on my 2500 with the trailer I pull. So the exhaust brake and EGR kit went on.

Actually found enough tools to get the tire off and... ... ... ..... lucky me I just need pads for now. Anyone know wether these trucks have the 4500lb axle or the 3800lb axle. Looking online for pads everyone wants to know what axle. I did not realize there was a choice on a 2500 diesel.

Thanks

When I needed brakes I called TDR member Sam Peterson in Washington (state). He gave me good advice and I took it.

Rapid Brake: Sam Peterson

Raybestos "Quiet Stop". They leave little to no break dust, and havnt made a noise, and I have been running them for 30K.
