My Dad has a 2000 3/4 Ton with 50k miles. He noticed in peering through the wheels the rotors are wore pretty deep. Is there any info on excessive rotor wear? I asked him if he rode the brake and he said "Of course not"!

I am beginning to think that some of us are getting bad rotor to begin with. My brakes have squealed since day 1 so I finally said screw it and bought new pads from Sam Peterson and had the rotors turned but lo and behold... . they still sqeal. I have done everything right and am not blaming them on the pads... . I honestly think that it is the rotors. So needless to say I am going to install new rotors and see what happens. :(

If you replaced the OE pads with a lifetime pad ,some will wear out the rotors before the pads. Guess thats why they call them lifetime.

automatics seem to be a lot harder on brakes than the sticks. I agree with Rammin on the pads. I would rather have soft pads then wear out the rotors.

I wore my rotors out after the second set of pads at about 50K. Hope break wear will get better, since I had a Banks Brake installed.

I run Performance Friction Carbon Metalic pads, they don't wear rotors as much as the "life time" pads do. Plus they have a life time warrantee. I think I put 4 sets on in 80K miles and the rotors were . 010" under the max wear spec when I traded it in last December.

At 65k my rotors were fine & the OE pads on their last leg... put on some PFC Carbon Metallics, and left the rotors untouched. Now rapidly approaching 103k and... pads & rotors all looked fine (not measured) when the wheels were off last week. Maybe not all parts are created equally.

Who is seeing more wear 4x2 or 4x4 owners?

Hey Chipstien---Do you ever get down to Olympia? I would like to check your truck and see if I can get rid of your squeek. Let me know. -------Sam 360/357-4958
