Last week Grizzly and I installed my Brake Smart. All I can say is WOW what an improvement over the electric controller I have had for three years. All I can say is if you have thought about it DO IT. Thought I,d pass this on.

I'm sure happy you like it, but to set the record straight, we installed a MaxBrake on your Dodge. BrakeSmart went out of business about 4 years ago, which is when I purchased my BrakeSmart. Both are essentially the same with a different face.

I'm not surprised you like it so well because the hydraulic controller is far superior to the electric controller. My son has the MaxBrake and is very pleased with it.

I've had a BrakeSmart since around 2004. Had it on my 2003 Dodge, took it off and now have it on my 2007 C&C. Hauling the way I do I would not be without it. I used several different types and was not happy without any of them. Since getting the BrakeSmart I have complete confidence in the braking system, especially since getting a trailer with electric/hyd disc brakes. The truck and trailer stop as one unit, no matter what the weight of the trailer is. The harder you press the brake, the more braking power you get to the trailer. My controller is set at 50% and I never change it. Works great. Don't know what they cost now, but believe me, the safety you get is worth it.

Haven't tried Max Brake out yet as the I messed up the Front Brake Line connection to the T Fitting. Took a lot of time and effort bending and massaging the Brake Line to go into the T and then when I got it screwed all the way into the T using the correct Flare wrench it is was crooked and cross-threaded so it leaks... I was really surprised at how much time and effort it took. My fault, but obviously not all that "easy for a handyman" as the brochure describes.
I wish more emphasis and explanation of connecting what shouldn't be so hard was provided.
My go-to garage (since it was too hard for me) won't reuse/fix my brake line so I'm into a new T and Brake Line. Now I remember why I never wanted to go to that trouble of replacing my cheap brake controller until we recently decided to use our Fiver a LOT more...

I appreciate your kind words about us and our customer service. I'm sorry you had such a time when you tried to install your Max Brake. For clarification for myself, are you talking about the 8” tube or your brake line that you had trouble bending? I was out in the wind when you called so I may have not heard you correctly. I thought you were talking about the 8” metal tube.
Fortunately I have not heard of the installation giving my customers problems but that doesn't help you. I do wish you had called me when you 1st started having trouble. I'm quite confidant that Dutch could have offered suggestions or walked you through the installation so you would not have had to go through this.
Since we were not close by and you needed to finish the job, our suggestion was to try and find a tee locally as it would be much faster then me shipping you a replacement.
Hopefully, you will be able to finish the installation and get to try out your new Max Brake. I cannot imagine you being anything but 100% satisfied with its performance.
Should you decide to order from us in the future, I will try and work with you a bit to help compensate for you having to purchase another tee. Di

Max Brake owner with electric over hydraulic brakes, traile about 9,000 lb. Max Brake works like other have described, very well.



If any readers have hydraulic brakes and experiencing DISC BRAKE LAG, I just might start a thread with my video "evidence" about nope, you don't have to accept brake lag, its a long story.

I'm very pleased with Dutch and Di's service! Failure was my fault.
Just to clarify, I got a small tubing bender and had no trouble bending the Max Brake supplied Brake line after I wrongly got the Ram Front Brake Line into the T.
Somehow the small "adjustments" I made to the RamFront Brake Line did not quite line up with the threads even after I finally got it to screw into the T.
Got a new T from ($17) NAPA the next day and took to my "go-to" Auto Service Garage. They decided not to rework my Ram Brake Line into the new T, so I got to pay for a new Front Brake Line ($24) plus labor. Not a problem!
Now I just have to hook up the Controller and should be able to report towing experience after next week's 200 mile trip with my RV.
