I have searched and read on PS/Brake failure but this seems to be a bit diff then most cases.

On my 99 QC 3500 DRW's, I had a leaking Brake Master Booster inside the cab on the firewall. I purchased a new Master Booster and Installed it. Install was not bad at all, not many hard lines to move. Completed per manual states. When 1st went to move all seemed fine, but when turning the wheel near complete lockout the brakes would apply without touching the pedal, did this in foward and reverse. I checked PS fluid level which was low and emptied dirty OEM fluid and refilled with Valvoline Syn. Checked level and then all was fine.

I only drive the rig once in a while just to run her and the normal long hauls for towing the race car and trailer. After about a hour or so cummute today I returned to work and went to park in a tight parking lot. Once again when in reverse and near full lockout with the steering the truck would not move and felt as if brakes were applied. Did the exact same thing in foward also. I thought fluid may have been low again so I checked and level was satisfactory. Later the same night once arriving home the problem did not occur parking.

What could be causing this and why would it seem to be only be doing this once every few weeks or so? Thanks in Advance!

WOW, strange problem. You sure everything is hooked up right? No interference with the steering column? Maybe have somebody turn the wheel while you look.

Good luck with it.

Stephen, call me my Phone wigged out lost # i talked to a couple Dodge techs today and got a couple Possibilitys, 1 check valve in booster is in backwards/ malfunctioning. 2 brake rod to pedal needs adjusting. they both didnt have much more to offer as they have never seen this prob. one suggested to check the solinoid valve in the pressure line, i still need to get to the shop to check the service manual. keep me posted.

Scott, thanks much for your thoughts and asking around for me. After a few weeks now of trying to pinpoint the problem I think it has been determined. The awnser to my problem was given to me by Paul Clark at Hyda-Boost.com base in MI.

Paul infromed me that the only thing that could cause the brake pedal to depress itself and cause all brakes to drag could only be the Hydro(master) Booster. I installed the NAPA hyrdo booster and it is faulty. Paul informs me that he sees this all the time with "remaned" units and the problem is that inside the Booster the Spoil(barrel) Valve becomes runied from small metal particles or bad fluid and therefore the casting is damaged therefore causing that seal with the brake Rod to not seal properly. When turning the sterring wheel the power steering pressures increase and with the damaged seal fluid is allowed past this seal and therefore the booster applies the brakes all by itself.

Paul also informed me that it often takes 3-4 boosters to make 1 good one that does not have seal or casting damage. He offers a new booster for 270. 00 plus shipping and a one day build. Problem he has is that ever since Daymler has become involved he cannot source the Firewall monting bracket or the brake pedal rod. This means that I or anyone must send him a faulty unit so that he can use those two parts to complete is new booster.

I am now awaiting NAPA to see if they can source another Booster which is not in stock nationwide nor does the maker of these booster have any made or in stock. If they cannot source one they want to refund me the 289. 00 and let me deal with soucing another. :-{} A new Hydro(master) Booster from Dodge is 600+ dollars and is very limited in avialibilty aslo.

If NAPA can source me another I will just install that and hope all is well with the new unit. If NAPA cannot I will remove the one in the truck and send it to Paul Clark and let him send me a booster done the correct way! I will keep you all informed!
