Hey guys! I hope everyone is doing well. I'm sure this has been covered in the past, but... On the Ramcharger conversion (91' CTD drive train), I found that when you push the brakes, it takes a hard left turn. Bad enough, I need to fix it soon. Can anyone tell me which of the four is doing it? I've checked the fronts, bled them, blem them again, pulled the calipers and made sure they aren't binding, etc. It seems to me that it maybe the p-side that is not right, but... Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Andrew

First guess would be the hose going to the right front caliper. They collapse inside sometimes and restrict the flow. bg

Thanks guys. I pulled the calipers last night... did a bit of cleaning and decided to take a deeper look into these calipers, since I'm going to replace them. They were fairly clean and moved properly when mounted. I emptied them out and got my air gun out. Put a small amount of air to the right front caliper and it expanded and then retracted. Seemed to be a proper motion for a brake caliper. I did the same to the Left front... Mind you, a small puff of air and the piston all but completely "popped out" of the caliper!!! Don't think that is correct, so I should be putting new loaded calipers on the front tomorrow evening. Hopefully this will help.

I'm interested in the comment about the rears causing this problem? I will be tearing into the rear brakes this Saturday, so I will post back.

Thanks Guys!!

The caliper is not supposed to "retract", therin may be the problem. It is supposed to just relax after brakes pedal is released and the pads pretty much stay in contact with the rotor. You want to be very careful blowing the pistons out with air, always put something between the piston and the other side of caliper to keep piston from coming all the way out and launching into outer space. If your rear wheels are not sliding I don't think you will find the problem there. If there is a dirt road near you, try the brakes there, you should be able to determine if it's in the rear or front very quickly. Good luck. bg
