Got the plug from U-Haul that plugs in the blue recptical for Prodigy brake controler. Question is, where does the blue wire go from there???? I didn't order the towing pkg. as I was planing on aftermarket bumper. Ended up making one w/ hitch/winch mount. Anyway, does anyone know where the blue trailer brake wire goes after it leaves the blue recptical? I opened up the wire harness at the rear by the flat four trailer plug-in, but no extra dead-end blue or other wire. May just have to run separate wire for brakes which I had figured on anyway.

Thanks for any info.

Need to figure out how to do sig. info. Truck is '03 HO,48RE,Quad,4x4,swb,Atlantic Blue Pearl,315s, GREAT!

I have the trailer tow package so I probably won't be much help here. The wiring diagrams in the service manual don't even show the electric brake receptacle for non-tow packages. If it does have it and has some wires to it (as you indicated in a different thread), the ones shown for the trailer tow package are (1) Red/Orange power from 40A fuse 1, (2) Light blue to the trailer brakes, (3) White/tan from pin 2 of the brake switch, and (4) Dark Green/Black to ground. I don't know which one's you're missing but maybe this will help you identify which ones you have. The wiring diagrams for the non-tow package don't show the blue wire anywhere.

There is a connector (which I'll try to locate if it would help) where the red/orange wire from the fuse block connects prior to going to the electric brake connector and where the blue wire goes after leaving the electric brake connector. It is connector C217.

If any of this was of use to you and you have other questions that I might be able to discover answers to in the diagrams, let me know.

Badunit,

Thanks a lot! All the wires color codes as you state are on my blue controler recptical. I can see a blue wire leaving the recptical, and assume this goes to the c217 connector you mentioned, but am not sure where that may be. The blue wire just enters the wiring harness & I did not find it in the bundle at the rear of truck where the flat four trailer connector is. It may be farther up in the bundle which I'll check for. Somehow I doubt they eliminated that one wire from the harness for the few trucks w/o towing package. I'll bet it's somewhere. Thanks for your help! Any info on the c217 connector would be helpful. Is it the same one the red/orange power wire goes to?

Thanks again!

To All,

Well, still no luck locating the trailer brake wire in the wiring harness near the fuel tank. It may very well be a different color. Badunit above indicated the power wire going to the blue brake controler recptical and the blue brake wire leaving the recptical went to a different connector c217 if I rem. correctly. It's likely that from that point it is a different color. However, it may be they just don't run it from there to rear of truck. None of the wires in the harness looked big enough to be for the brakes... Guess I'll just run a separate wire to the rear for the trailer brakes.
