Brakes Locking Up

Donovan- no biggie on the mistake; I've made plenty of them through the years and been quickly corrected.



The pumps are different from the nonIc to the Intercooled trucks. The early ones had a cam inside the housing that had 2 pushrods that drive the 2 UFO looking pods to make the vacuum. Later ones have a vane style pump that makes the vacuum. No cam, no pods

but tell me this one , other than some "Gobblin "living in my trucks hood area



My truck had some brake issues and i added powersteering fluid and it went away , the brake resevor was full , i do loose some fluid during the summer months , the brake lid gasket gets weired out ,



But i dont have a littel canister like on my 90 motor in my Suburban im

converting .



This what i think is happening and its still a powersteering lowfluid issue ,



Is that the vaccume pump needs the fluid in the system , since i dont think its a sealed unit , it happend the one time i was low on fluid



check it out for fluid or air in the system



only other possibility is the plunger sticking on the antilock crap

Your 92' vacuum pump has an oil feed line unlike the earlier twin POD canister type pumps. There is a braided hose behind the vacuum pump that feeds engine oil to the vacuum pump. The power steering and steering gearbox are separate system. Your addition of fluid and braking issue clearing up could be a coincidence since these systems are separate. Do you have Factory Service Manuals for the year models you own? I have read several of your posts here and on the conversion forum and I think you would benefit greatly from the FSM's. I think they are well worth the money even at full retail pricing. If you keep an eye on Ebay you can get a better price on them.

Only factory book i have is the mopar race books if any one has one or sees them cheap ill take them .



I got NH cummins books , NTC , and N14 books and a few books that were jokes on the 5. 9



I dont know it all, but i try to be informed



Plus i have other deisel toys



anouther 69 peterbilt with a 335, and 13spd main and 4spd aux

52 auto car4x3 trans 220cummins



John deere 4020 farm tractor



massey ferguson MF 175 with a a4236 perkins



Kubota B5100E needs a transmission , any body got one ?????

I got around to fix my brake issues today. Wheel cylinder was leaking on the drivers side and the brake pads on the passenger side wer severly crack. Anyway I appreciate everones help and I am thrilled to have good brakes again.

No, MOverton was right, the pad on the shoe was cracked. It's all in how fussy you want to be! :-laf

The "pad" that is held to the "table" is called the "block"

There is a balancing valve somewhere related to the booster. The best thing to do is replace the whole booster assembly. Its not to difficult nor overly expensive.
