Here is one for all the great minds at TDR. I have a 2001. 5 4x4 2500 auto with 45000 miles, stock engine, and stock tyranny.
Here is the problem, when rolling to a stop at about the last 3 ft of the roll, steady brake pressure it seems like the brakes release for about a second and then grab. The pedal does not sink and the pressure is the same on the pedal. The anti skid does not chatter, as matter of fact there is no noise associated with this, just brake release, but not complete release and then it grabs and stops. Now while sitting there with the same amount of brake pressure the truck lurches, like it going to take off on its own. I have the brake on at a constant pressure, again no pedal sink. Now after this little episode if I release the brakes the truck will not roll on it’s own. It takes more power or pedal to get it going than it usually does. Normally the truck will roll at about 5 mph on it’s own at idle on a flat surface. Now to add to the matter, had a Dodge dealer read the codes in the Anti skid system, we even did a drive brake test with box hooked up, no codes, no faults and of course it did not do this at the dealership. So where am I guys? I thought it was the ABS system at first, now I’m not so sure now, could it be the transmission. Also it seems like it does it only after the first stop after start up and again not all the time. I do not tow, just a driver back and forth to work and a little crawling in the woods during hunting season. Thanks for any advice you can give.
