Looks like I need new brakes. My truck is a daily driver. Any particular mfg recommended? Any to stay away from?

Thanks,

-john

I have been using raybestos on the fronts. The rears are still the originals, 144,000 miles. I have done the front pads four times. I ended up buying a set with lifetime guarantee and I keep an eye on them and replace them when there's only 25% left. The rear's typically are hard to keep adjusted properly and don't wear as fast. I pulled my rear drums off last weekend to see how much shoe was left, there was close to 1/4 inch left on all four shoes.

Bob,

Is Sam still in the brake business? I had mine done there 55k miles ago and they still are perfect. He really knows his brakes and does an excellent job. :)

Jack, Sam Peterson retired and sold his business to a friend. Sam is really a great guy

I did napa rotors and drums a few weeks ago and they are crap. They are warpped rite out of the box. Dont do like me and just slap them on. Have them turned first or you will be shaking every time you hit the brakes. My 100k parts werent even warpped. Wish i left it alone and only did pads and shoes

Braided Stainless Lines?

I found a guy at a local shop that I like and is very good. He's ordering front and back components for me - CARQUEST's top of the line. I'm trying to decide if it's worth having braided stainless lines installed. It'll cost me about $190 bucks more to do it. Can I get some opinions? What are the benefits? Will I feel a difference in brake performance? Longevity?

Thanks,

-john
