I purchased and installed a new BrakeSmart controller late last year. I started pulling trailers for Horizon Transport the first of February and have pulled lots of trailers, lots of miles in a few months. As I've written on several occasions I am genuinely impressed with the performance of the BrakeSmart controller. It provides perfectly modulated braking with any trailer I hook on to. I never change the gain setting. Every trailer brakes perfectly whether a heavy or light unit.
Recently the "E" button on my controller began sticking. The "E" button is used to select/change displays or to enter new information. I was on the road and too busy to do anything about it for awhile. Finally, I called Steve at BrakeSmart and advised him of the problem. His immediate reply was, "well, we can't have that. " With no further discussion he asked for my address and offered to send a replacement controller to my home by UPS. I explained that I would be on the road in unknown locations and it would be a while before my wife could mail me the new controiler and I could return the old one. Steve told me that was no problem. When I received the replacement controller the shipping box included instructions for returning the original controller using BrakeSmart's UPS account.
The new controller is now installed and works great and I think it includes the latest upgrades.
I consider BrakeSmart a great company with a great product. I believe in recognition for excellent service. If I had received poor or indifferent service I'd be writing about it here also.
Standard disclaimer: I have no financial afffilitation with BrakeSmart. I wouldn't mind owning some of their stock though if it was publicly traded.
