I hooked up my trailer today and the Brakesmart diplayed "Elecdraulic Brakes Detected". The problem is that my box trailer has two axles with electric brakes. Does holding the M and E simultaneously reset the unit? Has anyone dealt with them since the DR Perf deal ended? I wasn't going far today, but I could tell the trailer brakes were not up to snuff. Even with the thumb brake they were not "right there" like they usually are.

Sounds like you some how tripped the pressure setting. I think there are three settings? There should be *reset to default* somewhere on the box.

I don't know how that could ahve happened. I haven't pulled the trailer since we moved in March. Last night I remembered on one of those endless stretches of I-40, where I hadn't touched the brakes for literally hours, the controller suddenly sounded an alarm which scared the bejeezus out of me, and I remember just punching buttons 'til it quit. I never did figure out what the heck happened, but it may be related. I'll try a reset, and then plug into my friend's trailer to be certain I don't have a trailer brake issue.

The Alarm is the power saver mode kicking in. I'm guessing you have yours set for 30 minutes? The unit shuts down at a pre-set time, time starts as of the last brake activation. Mine is set for 90 minutes. Also, the arrow buttons can dim the light if the brake isn't applied, three settings.

An update on this issue. I ran by a friend's house today and plugged into his trailer and, whaddayaknow, it detected electric brakes. It would appear that my Brakesmart is probably OK, and my problem is on my trailer. Curious that it would not just detect the problem rather than display the wrong type of braking system. Hmmmm...
