Any one install one in a 96 model . The instructions start out with the 97 model . I had to bend the brake line from the master cyl. to the combination valve ,those lines do not bend easy . Every thing was fine during test run around block with out trailer . I then took a 15 mile trip and now the units is reading 68 lbs. of line presure with out any pedal pressure ,and wont go off . This causes the brake lights to stay on all the time so right now i have it disconected . Any one have an idea what happened . I sure hope i didnt mess up the ABS system . Arnie

You can set the initial drag on the Brakesmart. The 68 is the default setting so whenever you push the brakes just barely enough to turn the brake lights on, 68 psi is what your going to see. If your brake light are on all the time then I would suspect a possible problem with the brake switch. Reach down and pull up on the pedal to see if the lights go out. Another possible problem is a constant 12+ hooked to the brake sense wire. Check connections. You should end up with a screen that says "Brakesmart" when the pedal is released and "xxx psi" where the "xxx" is any given number starting from 68 to 2000.

Good luck. :)

My brake light switch is ok as the brake light goes out if i unplug the brake Smart unit from the large wire harness . Let it set since yesterday afternoon till this morning, went to a muzzle loading shoot this morning and when i got back i plugged it back in and its still showing 68 lbs of pressuere and the brake lights still on if i have the unit plugged in . Im thinking the pressure sensor isnt working right ,or is it possible i have a small amount of air in a line ,although the brakes seems to work fine on the truck. Arnie

Me too

Call Steve at BrakeSmart, I had the same problem and he wanted the unit returned and has sent a replacement. My trucks at ATS now for a transmission problem, won't know bout the replacement unit till I get the truck back.
