The other day I had to stomp on the brakes due to an Illinois person that decided to stop in the middle of the interstate, anyway, since then when I apply the brakes, they feel like they are grabbing so hard. So when I got home last night, I tested the brakes on gravel to see if it is the front or rear, both rear tires locked up. Any suggestions? No brake light or anything unusual, just the locking up of the brakes. I am thinking ABS system, but not sure.

Thanks

Jake

I have had the same thing happen to me. I had to slam on my brakes to keep from hitting one of our across the sothern border friends that turned in front of me. My front brakes locked up. Now when I apply the brakes the back brakes will lock up on gravel. I looks like nobody has the answer.

My '99 has very grabby rear brakes after it sits if the humidity is high or it has been raining... anyone else have these kind of problems?

I can resolve the last two problems. After the truck sits for a day or two in rain or high humidity the rotors get a light coating of rust. Just take a look. The rust really helps the discs grab the first time you stop, but after that the rotors are clean and the brakes work as normal. I really notice this on my little Toyota that mostly sits outside in very humid conditions (it't dripping wet most mornings).

My '99 locks up after it rains as well but then after a few brakes it becomes normal again. I was a little worried I need new pads/rotors, so thanks LandShark for the input and peace of mind. Now I just need to convince my wife :p
