Does anyone make a braking system that would go after the trans. like the overdrive units. Maybe something that uses hydralics or the like. Seems that would be alot better than using a exhaust brake on an auto. Probably just wishful thinking though:)

Yes - there is a company here in Conn. that makes a water cooled electric brake that goes in the driveline behind the trans.

I had their www at one time, but now its in orbit in harddrive #2 or #3. If your interested I can try to find it again. If I recall they were kinda pricey though.

Cool

may be pricey but well worth it if it works. I know that with the trans redone it can survive an exhaust brake, but can't tell me that an exhaust brake won't shorten the life of the trans. (auto) :( CPFF, if it isn't too much trouble to find that web site, it would really be appreciated. :) :)

I used to drive a big rig that had a jake and a retarder, I never did look to see what this retarder was all about but I think it was some type of a hydrolic unit , but not sure

Caterpillar has a retarder or what they call a Brake saver that is between the engine and transmission. Works just like a TC but only activated when the driver activates it. It also uses engine oil for its oil.
