Well, they broke the back slider at the latch and got in. I don't know if door alarms went off or not. . how can you tell? Anyway, had the back window replaced with the solid window as I didn't ever use the slider. Insurance company said it is a down grade, but my reasoning is to make it less tempting for the crackhead and non-pro. Pros are going to get in no matter what. Anyway moving along... they took my GPS unit all my battery charges, phone bluetooth etc, what AHoles... phone was with me. Took the coin holder and made a mess of the inside. Wrecked the cup holder... HOW?... anyway it will not close and stay shut properly. Yes all the stuff is being fixed, but the loose stuff is under household and it will not exceed the deductable. My point being (maybe this is just letting off the frustration) has anyone come up with a storage strong box for the valuables? I am thinking of getting a box made to go in between the cup holder(folded up) and the front of the seat. BTW, they didn't find the middle underseat compartment only the fold down arm rest. Even took my $5 20 year old calculator... gheeezzz! And a liitle box of plug in fuses in both sizes, must have been 25 assorted fuses... JERKS!!!

STRONG BOX... any ideas? Has any one installed a lock on the under seat middle compartment that could really work?

YES I will be installing a better alarm system or adding to the OEM system and including GLASS BREAK sensor. ANy other suggestions regarding alarms? YES I will be searching to forums as well to get more ideas.

THX for letting me vent as well as your helpful ideas. No they didn't get to the underback seat storage as I have cargo blankets spread out for the dogs and stuff I carry back there with the seats up. Moving all those blankets would have been a real time waster for them, so got lucky there or maybe they don't know about those storage areas.

Happy New Year!:) Capt PJ

Didn't they also steal your digi cam, your wife's 1. 37ct platinum wedding ring and the Snap On 3/4" set? I am sure that will get thing's covered. :-laf

Sorry to hear about the break in of your truck.

And if you install some sort of box, make sure it is bolted down good. Other wise they will just yank it out and take it home to work on it there.

Sorry to hear about your break-in, having a sliding rear window makes a headache rack a must. I have the factory alarm module, it goes off easily with just a bump, very sensitive. Next time they may just steal the truck, RAVELCO is the answer to that possiility. As far as a strong box, you can buy them in many different sizes, make sure you bolt it in. Genos sells one that is made to fit your truck I believe. You can google them as well. Tinting windows will slow them down as the tint holds the glass together, also they cannot see in well, so they don't know if the vehicle is empty, that by itself can be a deterrant. If it is nt bolted down it will be gone. If something of value is in plain sight, they will go for it.

THX for the good thoughts! I found the geno box, sure would like to see how it looks installed... I will email them. YES good thru carriage bolts with nuts inside the box, for sure!

The alarm info is good advice as well. THX to all for responding and the future responses. The glass is tinted already and it was a dark area... so it really didn't help. OH WELL!

Ravelco, interesting i have a dealer in Seattle. THX

My new year's motto/resolution a few years back; NEVER underestimate a crackhead. It's amazing what they'll do for five or ten bucks, never mind fifty or better. What seems to be the thoughts on an alarm I can install or get installed on an '03 ? Anyone had good experiences with installers in the Charleston, SC to Savannah GA area ? Augusta, GA ? Happy New year, sorry to hear about the losses and aggravation.

Platinum wedding ring?

What I did is put a few Treble hooks under the dash and one soldered on each corner of the Alpine radio, so if they grab anything under there, they will have Hamburger meat for fingers, only my mechancs know that they are there:)

cArNiVaL...

Treble-hooks:rolleyes: Does that not come under a federal law preventing "ENTRAPMENT":-laf

Shame on you for breaking the law;)

I like it. :-laf

Years ago, living and working in San Francisco, I lost 4 radios in 6 months from a VW Jetta. Of course, they broke the passenger side window each time as well. I REALLY, REALLY wanted to pack a radio chassis with 2lbs of C4 and a 3 minuite timer that activated when the radio was yanked out of the dash... I have to believe that after the newspaper reported 'exploding radios' that car breakins would decline!
