Do you guys let your engines breakin or do you BOMB them right away? I got about 10k on mine, (see sig) and I am getting ready to loose the muffler. I figure I'll wait till 25-30k until I get my EZ and injectors (DD1's?). By then I'll have a full set of gauges and I'll be ready for 4" exhaust, an AFE megacannon, and synthetic oil(amsoil?) Any opinions?

I started BOMBing my 01 right after I got it. By the time I had 5k on it it had DTT transmission, DDII's, + EZ. Now I have around 15K and you can see where it has gone!!!

Caution though "Be aware of the dark side" once you start BOMBing there is no cure:--).

I waited till I had 4k on the truck and then went for it. Got guages, a fueling box. Waited another 4 months and got the transmission worked over, got 275 injectors, an EZ and 4" exhaust. Waited 6 months more and got DD3's and moved the lift pump to the rear with SS fuel lines and got a new turbo... . its been almost a year since all that and I am getting the itch again, maybe a B1 turbo and super metals..... or maybe just another truck to start again on... :D

According to the manual heavy towing enhances break-in.

Bombing enhances heavy towing.

If you don't have anthing to tow, then you can simulate it by chaining your truck to the nearest rail car.

My Jardine exhaust went on at 250 miles. My lift kit went on at 400 or so miles.

The transmission will probably get done at about 1000 or so miles.

Why wait? Break it in the way you want it to be.

I bombed with the EZ right away, then the DTT ValveBody, then DD2's. My truck now has 63k miles and I'm getting 20+ mpg's. Before bombing I got only 13 mpgs. BOMB,BOMB,BOMB. You'll not regret it!

Bob:) :) :)

On a milder note.....

How much do you need or value your warantee:rolleyes: ? If you can handle or afford to cover repairs on your own go for it at 10k miles. If your transmission or injection pump go south, you are on your own. I even have heard of a "warantee voided" over an altered exaust system, no muffler! :--) I am starting with gauges and other mild mods. The miles add up quickly and when I'm sure I don't have a "LEMON" the more power producing mods. comence. Thats in June at approx. 36KOo. Oo. . Jim G.

I say wait til 36K just in case.

I have 19K and my 6 speed just started acting up when shifting from 2nd to 3rd. I will go in for warranty work.

Had I bombed, it would have been interesting to pull of the warranty work.

Just repeat after me:

My truck has enough power.

I can wait to bomb.

:{

Personally, I'm beginning to loose control. I hope I can last 17,000 more miles!:--)
