Ok, I am going to be getting my new PDR HX40-16w turbo this week..... what do you need to do to break this bad boy in?? I have heard you need to just do some easy driving for the first 150-200 miles... . Those of y'all that have the HX40's, can y'all let me know??? Would much appreciate!!!

I did about 200 miles and didn't make it work past 25 PSI. Man it almost killed  me doing that but it seemed to work. I have 34K on my Piers Super Turbo and when I installed the ATS manifold it is still tight and preforms SUPER

correct on the drive easy for the first 100-200 miles. Also I thougt that you were supposed to pre oil the thing. Like get it installed, and aligned and all that. Then 1-2 cap fulls of oil in the hole where the oil line inlet goes. Install oil line. Fire it up and let it idle for 5 minutes. Then let cool. Then take it out for 50 miles not going over about 15-20 psi. Then ramp up from there.

Ask Piers if you are unsure.

I did the same as Dee... .

I have one of the first ones and about 34k on it now too. Drove it light under 25psi for about 160mi.

I did the same thing on mine. Just as Piers said, easy for 50 miles or so, then ease it up from there. I was easy on mine for about 150 miles, then pushed it to see what the EGTs would do. Lost the bearings on the first attempt. Some will do that. PDR is replacing it (thank you, Piers).

Some will do that, on occasion.

Well, TWO have done that, mine and yours. The new one, I went almost 800 miles before mashing, so it has lived twice as long so far.

Its just one of those things that is taken for granted. I made this point a while back.

The service manual outlines exactly how and what to do in regards to pre lubing the turbo upon installation. I'll type it out in the morning when I get home.
