The Carrier Ductless Heat Pump got put in Friday. It's a SEER 19. 5 so it is very ecomomical to heat or cool, quiet and hangs high on the wall to be out of the way. Tuesday and Wedsday we finish the concrete work in the driveway and around the building area between the retaining wall and the building on two sides. We had thought about using crushed rock in that 3' space between the retaining wall and the side and rear of the building. Even with the 3" of fall from the building to the top of the retaining wall edge for water run off I think too much water would get into the ground below the rock without proper drainage. The concrete will fix that potential problem.

The driveway finally got laid. I also had the concrete crew, who did an remarkable finishing job, do around the back and right side of the building between the retaining wall and the building. David Kruse and his crew from Hendersonville did the job and did an excellent job of putting the concrete done to direct the water runoff around to the sides and down to the front of the building. I'm really glad I decided to do this while everything else was getting done. Since I elected not to have a drainage system between the wall and the building now I do not have to worry of the effects of water sitting in this area. I was going to fill that area with crushed rock but I think even having 3" of fall between the building and the wall I believe this would have been a problem in the long run.

I like it.

I'm gonna have to poke my grizzly bear (wife) here at the house. I want a shop!

Well other than some landscaping around the edges it's done. I can start moving in.

Have to dismantle the work bench I built in the basement and am going to put some HD rollers on it so I can move it around in the shop if I have to. The floor coating and the lift install came out real good.

WOW! That turned out real NICE!

Thank you, it will take a while for it to sink in that it's finally built. I've been building this in my mind since 1973. Now to get it set up. Get all my tool boxes, tools, and hardware moved out of the current house and garage. Got some real nice HD shelves from ULine. Now I can go on to the next project and get my hip replaced. That also has been a long time coming. Been walking with a cain, bone to bone for the last year and a half. Cheers.

Maaaan, you're living my dream. That's real nice. I know that lift, and it will pick up a 1 ton van loaded with plumbing items. Heavy.

That shop floor is amazing. Hope you get to enjoy it.

Be careful with your lift.

Yeah, I'm jealous.

I have a garage that I can call my "shop" for now, but I have to share it with every other item out there.

One day!

Well almost a year later. It was a really wet summer down here about 21" of rainfall above normal. December is here and final got all of the grounds work done around the building. Wound up putting a rock retaining wall in for the area between the driveway and the building. It wraps all around the side and front of the entry way. There is allot of granite rip rap there and it all hand laid in close to 20 yards of concrete. There is an underground drain at the base of the wall with about 4"s of fall from the building. The downspouts are plumbed into the drainage system exiting out into the woods behind the building.

Now that you have it all done you'll look back and say, "How the heck did I ever get along before I built this."

Glad it all came together for you. Would you recommend Morton Buildings to others?

Why did you solidify the granite rock in concrete? It's too permanent for my taste but I'm curious to know the reasoning behind it for future projects.
