I noticed a faint smoke haze around my idling truck last evening because the sun was at a low angle. The Horton fan was not engaged so the smoke was hanging around. I traced it to the breather tube. Is this normal or do I have a problem? It has used 1/2 qt of oil in 6000 miles.

p. s no sign of it this morning but it was cooler.

It's not a problem guys. As your truck gets older, you'll notice more. It's just blow by around the rings.

If it bothers you, I guess you could buy an Air-sep (think that's the name). Theyre a TDR advertiser. I think their unit will stop this?

If you aren't getting a little smoke then you could worry, it would mean that your engine wasn't getting lubed properly. All internal combustion engines do it, with most gassers you don't see it because the blow-by is fed back into the carb and burned, not so on our diesels.
