Ok after a hard days work with the truck either pulling a trailer or plowing, I will get a spot of oil about the size between a quarter and half dollar on the ground right underneath the breather tube. I looked at the tube and there is a drip of oil just hanging there ready to drop. I have read that some guys have attached a small medicine bottle to the bottom of the tube to catch any excess oil. Now do I have to drill any small holes in the top of the bottle to let it breath or do I just attach the bottle and drain it every oil change?

Home made catcher

Your engine has to breathe. If you use the bottle method, make sure you have plenty of holes for it to breathe thru. Or you can put on one of these fancy breathers Peak Diesel Performance Inc 877 857 7325 - Cummins Breather Kit 1988-02 - Dodge Cummins Turbo Diesel

I made a catch can from PVC pipe and brass pipe fittings to make a drain at the bottom and vent holes at the top. Vents are elbows so water won't enter the catch tank. Mounted at enough of an angle to let oil run to the bottom then drail drain at oil changes.

I made mine out of a 1'x1'x3/4' pvc "T" with a threaded plug to drain the catchin's @ change time. Bout as cheap as one can get. See it in the "old readers rigs" on my signature.

Its under My Rig, picture of my truck, click on it and you can see the make up of it. Ignore the fuzz, junk from a cotton wood tree.
