why do Racoons always die in pairs

Yup. Finally did it..... I went and bought an American Staffordshire Terrier, a female. So ugly, she's cute. Man, y'alls shoulda seen the place I got her at. It had "Appalachian" written all over it. :D Everything but the moonshine still, and they probably had that too, out of sight. A real briar-kinda dawg, I guess. Lots of love, she should turn out good.

Thanks to our friend "got smoke?" for the excellent picture. :D

'fraid so, Patriot Diesel. Haven't met a vicious one in my adult life, yet. This one's parents were friendly enough, I returned home with all my appendages, fingers, and toes, no holes in my clothes. :D She's intended as a pet, not a guard dog. My allergies won't permit a dog with long hair.

Briar, shes a beauty:) Marked like mine. Looks like she is Brindle colored (so is mine). Took mine to the vet the other day for his annual shots, he tipped the scales at a rock hard 81 lbs. Mine is the sweetest dog I have ever had. Just give her lots of love and she will be a sweet heart.

Tom,

Good luck with her. My step-mother raised AmStaffs for a long time. One of them ended up being a Champion Show Dog. Beautiful dogs. I'll have to dig up some old pictures of Buddy for ya.

Tom,

My bro has a female that is sharp as a tack and is as loveable as can be! Give her love and she will be a great pet!

BTW, what is her name? SMOKEY?:-laf

interesting...

Lately I have noticed that the same people that used to own Pit Bulls are now buying the biggest meanest looking Rottweiler they can find. Now theres a breed I have liked for years. I hope they don't end up with the same "rep" that the Pit has. All because of irresponsible owners... not bad dogs. I once heard a saying that went something like this...

There are no bad pets just bad owners...

If you abuse a Poodle I bet you could make it mean too !

Abuse a poodle??? Is that why all the ones belonging to senior citizens seem to be snippy, snappy mean little vicious furballs? Pops, quit poking that cigar at Frenchy, you know I hate the smell of burned fur !!!

Not an irresponsible owner here... . I raised a loving, sweet poodle, had him for 16 years.

Hate to differ but... .

My little taco bell dog was on a leash and being walked through an RV park. Some other guests had two English Bull dogs they let off the leash to take inside. Rather than going inside they ran under 3 RV's and ripped my dogs shoulder out. I got sick of hearing how "nice and wellbehaved" the dogs were, they insited that they had NEVER been vicious before. At the vets office ( 9PM Sat night) she stated again about how good they were as we were wondering if we would have to put our dog to death. The vet, getting sick of hearing how good her dogs were told a story about Bull Dogs. "They are BRED killers and sooner or later something will trigger them", he said his mother was almost KILLED by her pet bull dog when it attacked her for no reason while she was cooking dinner. He (the vet as a youg man) had to get a knife and cut the bull dogs throat to get it to let go of his mom. Then he took it outside and finished it with a single trigger pull. A poodle or taco bell dog may be "snippy, snappy mean little vicious furball" but they dont have the mouth for killing anything.

The owner paid DEARLY ($$$) for my dogs vet bills, so far she is healing. I would have instantly sued the owner and park owner if they didnt pay or my dog didnt recover. Two other RV parks that we visit no longer will allow dangerous dogs to stay there, thanks to my endlessly relating what happened to me.

Enjoy your bull dogs, hopefully they dont endup costing you mucho$$$

Prior to this I never though much about different breeds, now I do.

Texas Diesel, Sorry to hear about your dog, but a English Bull Dog and a Pit Bull are two different breeds. You need to be mad at the owners not the dogs. As an example, I agree that a 12 gauge shot gun is going to kill you faster in the hands of a criminal than a BB gun. But in the USA your not going to take away all of the shotguns or the breed of dogs that you don't like. If you like little dogs that can't defend themselves, carry a gun when you walk him. Not trying to be a smart ass just stating the facts.

By the way the English Bull dog is the mascot of the USMC, I think you would have a war on your hands if you tried to get rid of that breed ;)

Nice looking puppy!

That is a nice looking puppy you have Tom. My wife likes the brindle coloring. She had to go back and get Victor from the camper after she saw Dixie at the fairgrounds. I hope she gives you as much pleasure as Victor has for us:)

Pit Bull, I didnt take offense to anything you said, you have a God given right to express your opinion. :)

That is why I was ticked off a the park, I normally carry a . 357 snubby and a can of OC spray. Both are forbidden on park grounds, if I was allowed to defend myself and dog, it would be different. The park disarmed me and failed to enforce the rules and I was helpless. That is the main point ( to me ), I was disarmed and left defenseless, the OC spray would have put both bull dogs out of service for a while. That is why I carry a "bridge" weapon (OC), so that my only option is not deadly force.

As far as Bull dogs being bred killers, I was just quoting the vet who worked on my dog.

Texas Diesel, I feel your frustration. I had a beloved cat killed in my yard when I lived in Atlanta, by a neighbors two Boxers. They ripped him to pieces. I was in my house and saw the end of the attack. These dogs had a pac mentality and attacked a dog in my area. They were dangerous. The owner lived 200 yards from a elementary school and kids were in danger. One day when I was out walking my Golden Retriever they came out of a field and were going to attack. That was a mistake, my Golden is a big 85lbs Alpha male and when they came after us I let him off his lead :D The Boxers were 55-60 lb dogs. Took Max's about 2-3 minutes to show them the error of their way. Never saw the Boxers running after that day. ;) Just wish I would of had my Pit Bull that day. The Boxers would of left without body parts instead of just a few puncher wounds. Don't mean to sound viscous but I alway keep my dogs on leads or behind a fence.
