AABEN, regarding those beads... they will get stuck in your schraeder valve eventually. Only check your tire pressure if you have an air source available. I've checked tires at work only to have the valve get the beads stuck in them. Pop the air chuck on and it blows the bead back into the tire. I found out the hard way.

LRutigliano, I'm not so sure that is your wear indicator. I just grabbed a quarter and measured it with my tread gauge indicator, and it looks like you still have 7/32" there. If those tires are "snowflake" rated, that indicator may just be the one that tells you they aren't suitable for winter use, anymore. That depth is where my Nitto Dura Grapplers are now, and when spring comes along they will go back on my truck until they are done. . probably until fall.

Also, on the very edge of your tire, you will see several indicators that say something like "twi" (Tread Wear Indicator). Those are lined up with your true indicators. (on Michelins, the TWI is a picture of "Bibendo", (the Michelin man). Who says the French don't have a sense of humor?...

I believe the item in question is a tread block stabilizer. You'll see them on a number of tires. The Michelins on my truck have the block stabilizers on the inner and outer tread blocks. They're huge and reduce, or appear to reduce the effective biting edges along the inner and outer tread blocks. After three years and ~36k miles of excellent all around handling, especially in ice and snow, I hope they will maintain their performance now that the blocks are exposed. I noticed that Michelin has now changed to a significantly smaller block stabilizer on the newer AT2s which looks a lot better when worn down to that point.

As far as the more rapid wear, it has been my experience between an open differential and any form of "posi" that the rear tires will wear quicker with the posi, which is more pronunced when loaded and accelerating in turns.

Wow, I tried the Revo 2 based on lots of positive comments. After 58,000 I had to replace two fronts due to worn ball joints, never had a tire last so long on any of my trucks. Great tire and I tow 99 % of the time.
