Time for new tires. I can't decide between the BFG AT or the Bridgestone Dueler AT? I'm going with 285/75's(on 16x8 MT/ Alcoas). I've currently have 265/75 BFG's(on the stock '99 steel rims), and haven't been completely happy with them. However, I'm not totally sold on the Bridgestones either. So, lets hear some opinions. Thanks.

I have never had a set of the Bridgestones, but I know the BFG's are a great tire. I have the 285's and got over 40K out of them and had at least another 15K left in them (had a blowout, replaced the pair). Two that are still on the truck have over 45K on them now and are still 3/8" depth on the tread. They drive good, are quiet, and last a long time. I will buy BFG's again and again. I have never had a truck tire even close to these in performance and life.

I'm going to add a question

I have BFG Mts on my truck now and I have about 22k on them and I need to replace them before the weather gets too bad. The question I have is how good do the BFG ATs do off the road? I don't go off road very often but when I do it is usually in a bad spot and I need a good tire to get the truck and trailer trough the mess. I have herd some guys say the ATs are useless offroad and others say they like them, but I was wanting some more imput and maybe a few testimonials.

Thanks

darrell,

I haven't been off the road too much with my 265/75-16 bfg's but I went to a few places here and there and with the weight of my truck with a little airing down to like 30 or so, then they do great. make a goot long footprint and such. I went to Moab last year and did a little rock crawling and the tires gripped good, no slip.

Would like to get maybe 285 or 295's next but don't know.

Hope this helped.

Eric

I have 55,000 miles on my 285 Bridgestones right now. I got over 65,000 on a previous set mounted on a full size Bronco.

When it is time for another set, it will be Bridgestone. Next time you are at the tire shop, ask them to spin a set of Bridgestones, and a set of BFG. The BFG's are actually semi-eliptical. You will find that only two tire companies in the world make a truly round tire. Those companies are Michelin and Bridgestone.

Bridgestones for me. I have a set on now that went from Anchorage to Matzatlan, Mexico pulling a 5th. whl and the molding knobs were still on the tread. They wear like iron.

Don't mistake them for Firestones. Not the same thing by a long way.

Most all of the trucks in the Prudhoe Bay oilfield use Bridgestones on all gravel roads. The tires will run 30 - 50k miles.

They are not cheap but you don't have to replace them very often.

When I was trying to decide, I did some searches and asked questions. BFG came out on top by a long shot for the size/type of tires I was looking for. Also found out BFG is owned by Michelin which has an excellent reputation. Having had the BFG's for about 3 months now, I've really enjoyed them, great ride, quiet and way better traction than the tires they replaced. Got them from http://www.ntwonline.com
