Nothing better to do than surf the web while i'm waiting for a tow. I'm sure glad DC supplies the Cummins with junk equipment (Lift Pump).

It's my fault. I was foolish enough to wait for it to fail at 60k miles (truck is 4 months old) before installing FASS, as I have on the other trucks. Sure sucks to pass on a $7000 load because of garbage equipment. Such as life. Hope Rip can next day air a FASS to me. .

Better to be broke down in Bulverde Texas than Death Valley.

Done venting now, off to crying...

Sorry about your down time. It comes with the job when your haulin for a livin. I know I was broke down for 6 hrs today & only got one load of fuel hauled.

Just currious why 3 trannys on the 05 6 speed? Which one nv5600 or g-56?

2 bearing failures destroyed transmission. G56. Have same mileage on 48RE, same Loads, driver neglect, scortched fluid, overheated 3 times, no problems. . Go figure. .

I just went from an auto in my 01 to a manual because I didn't want to have issues with an auto again. I spent alot of $$$ getting that auto to hold up. I looked hard to find this nv5600 in late august because I was leary of the g-56.

So this was a factory in-tank lift pump that failed? If so, perhaps they won't be the reliable lift pump solution Dodge was hoping for. I guess the FASS makes sense even for the newest trucks.

And to top it all off, the in tank pump is on national backorder, according to Wyatt Arrp Dodge in Seguin, TX and Boerne Chrysler Dodge. . sounds like BS to me. Just picked up the FASS pump, they did not have the full FASS unit in stock, just the pump, so there's $400 down the drain.

Since Dmaxes use the CP3 without a lift pump (if I understand correctly)

I am surprised that no one here has devised a lift pump bypass valve that you could open in case of failure and keep on trucking??   Or a back-up pump in parallel with a switch (or you could switch the plug from one to the other)?

Even a FASS will fail eventually.

Problem fixed. It was Debris from contaminated fuel that collected on the intake screen/skimmer. Fuel pressure is 10psi Idle to WOT. Local performance shop had the FASS pump only, bought it just in case, i'll return it and get a couple complete fass systems for the trucks.

I dont believe this was enought trash to have clogged the large fleetguards on the FASS, and if it did, I would have spun on new filters and been back on the road. even though it was not a lift pump failure, this scenario justifies the $$$ for superior filtration/fuel delivery.
