Hello,

I'm looking for some help. I broke one of the front wheel studs on my 2005 3500 SRW 4x4. What's involved in replacing a wheel stud? Will I be able to just remove the rotor and have enough room to knock out the old one and slip a new on in?

Thanks,

Marty

My service manual for the 2004's says you can do it right on the vehicle. Just take the tire and rotor off. They show a little tool pushing it out. I bet a big hammer would do it quicker. Then put the new one in by pulling it on with 3 washers and the lug nut with the flat side to the washers.

Thanks Matt.

It worked exactly as you said. I hit it about 3 times with a big hammer and out it came. I'll get a new stud tomorrow and I don't see any problems with it going right on.

Oh, one more question. Does your manual give a torque spec for the caliber mounting?

Thanks.

that's good to know. . last rotation, on my FR i had one lug that woundn't take torque. i am hoping it is just a lug, but if the studs is nfg, it is good to know that it is a reasonably easy job.
