I think i have a u -joint problem in my front drive shaft. It drives fine in 2wd and when coasting in 4wd, but when i accelerate or am pulling a hill i get a vibration in the front. I am almost 100 % certain its a u-joint. Could i be wrong? Are the u-joints with grease zirks the best? I have heard both non-zirked and zirked stories. I figured the ones with the zirks are the best since all the Peterbuilts got em' :D . Anyone know if NAPA has them?

Also i get a strong scent of diesel fuel in my garage when i park my truck. It has been a year since i got the FASS and almost 6 months since i got my new injector pump. I haven't had any work done since the new VP was put on - and taken back to the dealer for a leaking injector line the day after. I checked the line from the tank to the FASS to the injector pump and they are clean and dry. I don't see any wet spots or greasy spots around the engine either, and the concrete is clean too. I am not sure where i should be checking next. The truck starts and runs fine - still makes black air ;) .

Put the ft. end up on jack stands and wiggle everything you can get your hands on , wheel side to side , top to bottom, reach for the u-joint in the axial just behind the wheel , then the ft. driveshaft[3 u-joints] and the yoke at both ends sometimes they'll come lose , when it comes to the joints I've under the impression that the spicers are the best , napa can get but may not stock, zirks can go either way. fuel leak also check the top of the tank , I think there was a TSB for the lines and the metal rusts through.

That front end vibration you are feeling while under torque is most likely the front driveshaft but it may not be the u-joints... . there is also a small ball socket joint in between the rear u-joints by the transfer case... our local Napa stocks them and replaces them at least once a week in a truck for my local Dodge dealer. I did my own last week and it's a real pita!
