Im helping him out (as much as i can)... he should be on his way soon hopefully!! I didnt even know he posted a 911 on here. I just happened to drive by and saw a fellow TDR member broke down.

Jake

Jake saw me broke down and walked over to see if he could help. He took me and my nephew into town so we could get something to eat ( we spent the night in the truck along side the road)and find a phone book. He made numerous calls to all his buddies on his cell. He was able to locate a friend of a friend who had a turbo. He even came back to check on us just in time for the big smoke in.

Joe was unable to find a turbo local but hustled around and got one ordered for me when it looked like my only option. I needed to be in Chattanooga this afternoon and made it. I drove straight through from Albuqurque to Chattanooga just stopping for fuel. Joe called me after I was already back on the road I will pay the freight charges on the turbo that arrived this morning and he will take it back to Vegas on one of his trips.

This is the second time I have broke down in the same spot in New Mexico last time it was the broken strut on 5th gear synchro that lock trans in 5th gear. Maybe my next trip I will drive around NM. Thanks for all the help guys, Rod

I think that area might be cursed! Last year about this time, just outside of Grants, NM my 92 cab filled with smoke on I-40! The headlight switch smoked and burned most of the wiring going to the switch. It was at night and I was going to spend the night in Gallup. Luckily the emergency flashers still worked and I limped it into Gallup. I think I will go a different route when I head out to Vegas at the end of this month! Glad everything worked out for you!

Be nice Carnivalworker... ... ... ... how many times have I got you up and running in the middle of nowhere :-laf :-laf

Obviously I didn't start this thread because I was sitting alongside of I40. So what if the spelling was a little off the message got through. It is people like the Carnival Clown that make me happy I don't call California home anymore.
