The bracket for the steering gear box broke on my 93,toward the front were the single bolt is. Just wanted to see if any body else has had this happen. I've heard of one other person that has had it happen to his 92. It sound like it may be a problem that people with larger tires might want to check before it breaks on them going down the road. I was lucky It happened in a parking lot.

I have been looking into a crossover steering unit that I believe eliminates the use for the bracket because you relocate the gear box to the 2wd position. It should be stronger and allow for more flex. It also helps when you use lift kits on trucks. It should help turn bigger tires too because it has more leverage

I don't know if helps just thought you might want to know?

I was able to get it out and weld it up I also welded some reinforcement metal to try to stiffin it up there were lots of stress cracks. I will be looking into a new bracket. Thanks for all the info.
