I knew one front caliper was hanging up and thought tonight I would remove it and clean/lube the pins bushings and rails. Removed the first bolt, no problem. Second bolt snapped off like butter. :{ I quit at that point. I want to put new calipers and rotors on next spring but don’t have time nor the money right now.

Any easy tricks anyone have to get that caliper off and the bolt out without destroying the existing caliper. One bolt is out but it doesn’t look as if it could be pivoted on the remaining bolt till it was clear of the rotor. I don’t believe it will clear the rails with one bolt in place. Can anyone prove me wrong?

does the caliper mount have two bolts that bolt into the nuckle? I dont have a 95, but on my 00 I can remove two bolts on the caliper mounting bracket, and would all come off together.

Did the bolt snap off just below the head? If not, take a C-clamp and force the piston back into the caliper. You should be able to slide the caliper back on the remains of the bolt far enough to get the pads out which might allow you to slip it off the broken bolt.

Unfortunately it snapped right at the head. :( I haven’t been back out to look at it yet but thought I might be able to wedge the bushing back away from the knuckle which would expose about a ¼” of the bolt. Then cut the bolt as close to the caliper as I can, remove the caliper and have almost a ¼’ of bolt sticking out yet. Maybe then I can weld a nut on it or remove it by some other means.

I think your last idea will be the easiest solution - especially if you have a welder handy. As far as new caliper cost, if you want to replace with stock you should be able to get a remanufactured set of loaded Wagners' for about $50 each. At least I was able to for mine about 4 years back, they are lifetimers and I've replaced them for free before.

Did you ever get this fixed and how? I'm dealing with the same issue EXCEPT both bolt heads broke off!...
