im a lil upset... i have put 4k + into my truck this month. it was going to get a NICE bath this weekend as well... then it goes and does me wrong... .

i slide into my seat, press my leg against the floor to turn my body and POP goes the lumbar support...

odd i think to myself... . so i try to adjust it. freespin. the little plastic parts inside that should have been made of metal... broke...

so, im outside of 36k, but i have the 85k extended coverage... should i spend the 100 dollar deductable and have THEM fix it?

or is this something i can fix for less myself?

thanks.

Got bad news for you, Grant. Here's what the manual says:

2004 Service Manual said:
The power lumbar adjuster cannot be repaired, and

is serviced only as a unit with the seat back frame. If

the power lumbar adjuster or the seat back frame

are damaged or faulty, the entire seat back frame

unit must be replaced

If it were me, I'd just live without it.

its manual. . i didnt know there was a power lumbar... lol...

can you get any info on it for me?

honestly i wont be able to live without it for to long. my lower back is trashed. i COULD get an add on cushion or something of the sort, but i dont like them and they look nasty.

if needed, ill pay to have it fixed. its that important to me, but would rather not if i dont have to.

There have been posts where they have taken it apart and repaired it. Glued or what not. Been several posts over time about this part breaking.

Mine did the same thing at about 20,000 miles. The knob just spun.

I took it to the dealer and they fixed it under warranty. It took them awhile though- first they ordered the wrong part, then had to order the correct part... seems to me they had to replace the whole seat back. I'll check to see if I have the part number.

Grant, the manual doesn't mention any procedure for removing the manual lumbar support. It only discusses removing the handle and the "bezel", which is located behind the bezel. If you want to try removing the bezel to see if that gets you anywhere, just pry off the manual knob. The part behind it will have 2 screws in it. Remove those screws to remove the bezel. At that point you might be able to judge whether it's possible to remove the internals.

yeah, right then and there i tore it appart and took a quick look at it. i dont have a clue how to work on it from there though... not without pulling the leather off the frame, and i do NOT want to do that... ill mess that one in quick fast and in a hurry...

thanks for the info. ill check to see if it is covered, then when i have the time/money take it in.
