Just wondering if anyone else has broken the handle off the NV5600? Driving home from work this evening the handle snaped the threads just below the rubber issolater. I do have the short shift kit and I have had some clutch issues due to a failed pressure plate spring on a 3600dd, but it seems like a weird failure. I guess I just fatiuged the part.

Anyone bought anything other then the factory stick? In the mean time I weled up a temp handle.

Aaron... .

I have the short shift kit in all my trucks... the 04 is close to 300K miles... . I've never heard of this... .

Tell your kids to drive it like a truck not a race car..... its always the kids fault... right... .

The shift “handle” is made of tubing, not solid rod as was used in “the old days. ” You could probably weld it back together, or buy a new one from the dealer.

The shifter itself is well made. The problem is the machined nut insert to the rubber issolation at the base of the handle. I got a new handle coming for $35so at least it was not too expensive. Maybe I will add the shifter handle I made to my booney box in case it happens again :).

BTW, you can not weld it back to the handle without melting out the issolator.

Thanks,

Aaron

I had the same issue with my 03. No short shift kit.

I welded a 1/2 bolt onto the shift stub, and a nut on the shifter itself.

I then used another 1/2 nut to lock the two together.

Worked great!

I welded mine near the isolator... just have to keep a wet rag wrapped around the rubber, and maybe a steady stream of water on it while welding.

I welded my isolator solid as well.

Found that it made shifting much more accurate.

Extra noise was not that bad.
