Just below the fuel shutdown solenoid is a pair of parallel springs, about 3" long, attached to the fuel injection pump lever. While fitting a new boot to the solenoid I noticed that the spring nearer the street side has broken. The springs appear to be captive at each end. The spring straightens out, passes through a very small hole, and is then turned through 90 degrees to secure it. How does one service this? Does one buy replacement springs with straight ends from a Dodge dealer, and twist the ends over after fitting, or is the pair of springs and holders replaced as a unit? The springs are shown in the bottom left corner of fig. 60 0n page 14-94 of the service manual, but I can find no mention of them in the manual. I can't find any mention of the springs by using the search facility in this forum.

Any help would be appreciated.

Nick.

Those are your main throttle return springs and they come from the dealer as you see them but they are pretty spendy. Mine had a thick spring and a thinner spring. My peddle pressure was quite high so I removed the thin spring. Later on my thick spring broke so I put the thin one back on and then bought a universal spring from the local parts store and put the plastic ends on it and installed. My throttle pressure is now just the way I like it and it was a cheap to fix. If you buy universal springs find ones where the coil part is similar to whats on there then you can cut the long ends. Start out longer and work your way shorter until you have the peddle feel you like (engine running).
