Brothers 2005 Wont start

I would like to narrow down where to look but my brothers 2005 wont start. It turns over but wont start. then is started for a while and died. I told him this may be the fuel pump which went out in my 2003 but I thought the 03 and 05 had different fuel pump arrangements and they had to upgrade mine. Cant remember now if they put in an in tank pump or it was the in tank pump that was the issue. He believes a code was thrown so I am going to bring my reader down next weekend to see if it tells us anything. What do you think?

He can turn the key on-off,on-off, then on and the code will appear on the dash. Just turn on, do not start. Tim

05 had the in tank pump.
Replace the fuel filter.
Check lift pump pressure at CP3, 9 psi at cranking and idling.

Have to laugh. It was the battery in his key. Dealer replaced and fixed issue. Apparently when the battery gets old the connection fails ant the fule pump is turned off.
