Neat new site for "Stuff"

Muncie trans.

all of a sudden my browser will not search what I want but will go to a lycos or Google site on some subject not related at all... ... I've done a norton virus check nothing and I ran spysweeper - again nothing - any ideas what to do?????

The quickest way to deal with it is to run a system restore if you're running Windows XP. Go to the Start button, then <programs>, <accessories><sytem tools>, <system restore>. Pick a date a week before you started having the problem & go back to it. This returns the registry to a "clean" state.

Another program I use is spybot, along with adaware. It's also advisable to quit using Explorer and use Firefox exclusively.

Firefox?

Sarj, Do you really like Firefox that much? Why do you feel it is so much better than IE? I have no problems with IE at all. . But I do practice safe surfing habits, like staying away from the Porn sites and running Adaware regularly. . There is also an app called Hijack this but should not be used by a novice as you can screw up your system really easily.

Firefox is cool, I really like the tabbed feature, which I understand that IE 7 will have. There are, however, sites that will not work correctly with Firefox. If you use it, you still need IE sometines.

I use firefox exclusively since most spyware attacks IE, and like coyle said, the TAB feature allows you to open multiple websites without running multiple windows. It also clears out cache & cookies much better.

i love the tabbed browsing. . makes it quick to go through different online forums [i visit about 10 pretty regularly]

with a wheel mouse, i just click the thread link with the wheel and it opens in a new tab. . i get all the threads i want open then start going through them. . quicker for me than 'right click open in new window' business. .

the only gripe i have with firefox right now is the current version makes strange things happen when you want to use the extended characters off the keypad. i use to use alt+0176, alt+0177 & alt+0181 and some others very regularly, but now those have been replaced with ~, * & u since when you start typing in the extra characters, you get redirected on some sites [including this one]

on any tdr forum page, with the newest firefox, you can hit alt+1 and it takes you to the forum homepage. . i find that extremely frustrating, but if you hit alt+4 from any page on the tdr forums, it will take you to the tdr search page. . that i find kinda handy. i think it has something to do with the source code that is used in the vBulletin forums software that causes this action

go to trend micro.com

and download their 30 day trial version of Anti-Spyware 3. 0. . Right after reading your note, I started seeing random redirects. . Tried a few things and this was the only thing that worked. .

I'm now using IE 7 Beta 2, and it does use tabs. So far, it's a toss up between firefox and ie7.
