I have noticed that a couple of pronounced bubbles have recently developed on the top surface of the Triple Dash Pod from Geno's that I installed over a year ago.

Has anyone else had this happen?

I thought that heat from the illumination lamps might have caused it but the bubbles aren't near them.

I installled Genos triple dash pod about 1. 5+ years ago, haven't had any problems. Some thoughts-

Did you paint the dash pod ? (I painted mine using the Chrysler satin black so it would match the rest of the dash low gloss finish).

Is the bubbling you see a deformation of the plastic, or is it a reaction / non adhesion of the paint to the gauge pod ?

If the deformation is due to heating of the pod, seems to me you would notice also a hot smell. If you believe the problem is deformation of the plastic due to overheating, I'd recommend investigate asap so you don't end up with something terrible like an interior fire.

Good Luck !

Give Geno's Garage A Call

JMarketos, give the folks at Geno's Garage a call - ask for Brandon or Andy - (800) 755-1715. They'll know if there is a problem, and they'll help you out. Those are AutoMeter pods, so they should stand up to reasonable conditions - no problem.

JMarketos: I pulled the pod apart to find the source. There isn't anything to indicate overheating from the lamp, or anything else. I did paint the pod but the plastic itself is deformed. There is a corresponding bubble inside as well. Although it seems unlikely, it looks like an air bubble was trapped between 2 layers of plastic and expanded because of heat from the sun through the windshield. The bubbles are quite ridgid and won't depress when I press on them.

Robin: Thanks for the response. I will call as you suggested. I try to avoid using the phone as much as I can because I don't hear too well but will give it a shot anyway.

Well, It's now 30 minutes later.

I spoke to ANDY at Geno's and he very quickly determined that there was a flaw in the pod and told me he would send me a replacement. He even offered to send paint for it but didn't have the same color in stock.

WOW!

Talk about excellent customer service. To say that I'm satisfied would be a tremendous understatement.

KUDOS to Geno's and ANDY!!!

Genos has top notch customer service. I had a sticky boost Gauge a few years back, called them and they sent me a new one ASAP via UPS. I swapped out the gauge, boxed up the defective one and sent it back with the return label they included in the package.

Any other place would have you send them the gauge on your dime so they could check it out, then send you a replacement in like 4-6 weeks.

I've got the same bubble on my pod. I just assumed it was from the heat/sun blasting down on it through the windshield. I'll keep an eye on it... kinda hate to take it apart as it was a tight fit with the wires and boost tube  I agree with the Geno's customer support. I've had no problems with them and they are the first place I look when ordering something for the truck.
