Hey has anyone had problems with the truck bucking under load with the smarty on odd numbers. Mine starts to buck soon as it starts to work while pulling the trailer on 5 or 7. Soon as I set it to 6 without the timing it runs smooth?

How many miles on your clutch?? Is it stock or aftermarket?? My reason for asking is that if you are in stock form with the clutch and it has a fair amount of miles on it, the power added by the smarty in timing mode could be slipping the clutch when fuel is added. This is a theory of course, but if you are running fine in a non-timing mode, then I would think that the VP is ok. The other thing that it could be might be fuel delivery, but this again is theory as it runs ok with non-timing.

A smarty will make short work of a stock clutch if given the chance. How is your fuel pressure to the VP?

Is it happening at all RPM's or just low RPM's?

I've got a SB Con ofe about a year old. It pulled good with the F 1 injectors before. I used to pull on 7 but since the injectors I towed on 5. I set it from 9 to 5 to tow with this time and thats when it started. It's anywhere from 1800 to 2200 rpm, right where you normally tow. It's just when it starts to pull like on a hill or accelerating in 6th gear. My VP was replaced under warrantee at about 68000 miles and its got 93000 now.

How about too much timing... . esp since its a HO. I don't even run added timing unloaded, let alone with a trailer... ... .
