HX40-16 out for a tow for the 1st time

Starcraft 5th Wheel Campers

OK folks:
When towing this weeking in North Georgia every time I got to a point where I had to give about half throttle to climb, the truck started to buck and it would get so bad I had to clutch the engine or I would broken something. It would do this in third and fourth. If I dropped into 2nd and ran about 2400 RPM it would pull without any problem.
Now when I run empty I have a slight "quiver" to the engine I cannot seem to find. The pump has been set-up by a Bosch mech. and he says it is fine. The only up-grade to the motor is 300 injectors. Could this cause the trouble? I have been told the govorner need a rebuild. Is this the trouble? I didn't have this problem till I broke the throttle rod. I replaced it and this started. . The only adjustment I see is the 5 inches from the ball joint and the frame bracket. Is there another adj. I don't see? The hopping feels like the petal is being pushed in and let go very quickly.
I can't tow like this but I don't know what to do.
Does anyone have any idea what is up with this pump?
Thanks;
Preston

Preston,

You & I were blessed with one of the best fueling Bosch pumps, but they f'd the linkage springs. Mine did the same, only while towing & uphill. #ad

Dodge makes a new linkage kit that fixes the problem. #ad
You may want to try jerking around with a few different linkage springs from the local auto shop 1st. I should have, but didn't think of it. May just do it for cheaper!

I agree, spring is too light and the bucking causes your foot to move and it just gets worse. This was discussed quite a bit last year. I seem to remember a write up in the Register too. Worse with stick shift than auto as I recall.
