Santa has arrived a bit early and he was driving an 18 wheeler (Cummins powered of course)! Oo. He dropped of a couple of bumpers from http://www.buckstop.biz . I'm very impressed with the quality and strength of them. Shipping weight was 350 lbs for the two of them. No more replacing tin foil bumpers for me :D . I've put some pictures of them inside and out including brackets in this album - https://www.turbodieselregister.com/user_gallery/displayalbum.php?&albumid=538 . I got them unpainted because I wanted to paint match them to the rockers on my truck and add some bolts to attach grill mesh to the bumper openings.

Coming soon . . . . CMNSPWR II! Oo. The pile of parts is starting to grow here: 2. 5" Skyjacker front springs, color matched grill (going to install the stainless grill inserts that I have now in it - truck has a chrome grill right now), and a wheel well liner. On it's way are lights for the front and rear, and a replacement headlamp assy. I can't wait to see what it's going to look like - big change.

Steve -

very very cool. I especially like the look of the rear bumper. Are you going to have them painted with the bed liner like your rockers or just paint to match color?

keep me posted!

Jason

Paint to match color. I can't quite decide right now how I'm going to paint them - I keep going back and forth. I'm either going to have them powder coated by a company down by detroit that does work for the OEM's as well as one off stuff - they do an 8 step prep process. Either that or I'm going to prep them with POR-15 (to avoid corrosion) and then spray can paint them over that. Decisions decisions . . . . .

Steve, have them lineX'ed. Along with your rockers.

PS what do they cost? They are real good looking ;)

Thanks for sharing the photos of your new bumpers. I visited the website you listed and found no pricing, so I called them and was pleasantly surprised at the prices. Of course, shipping will eat me alive since I live out here on the East coast.

Since both of my stock bumpers are pretty dinged up, I'll welcome something substantial and well made like the Buckstop. Be sure and post more pictures when you get them installed.

I considered that Pit Bull (the rockers are already lined) but decided it wouldn't look good. The front is $1275 and the rear is $325 if bought with the front - that's powder coated. They took off $125 for unfinished. Then you have to add shipping of course.

Buck Stop Bumpers

Steve,

Definitely keep us posted, ( with pictures if possible ) as to how your installation progresses. I'm also interested in upgrading my bumpers after an uninvited meeting with a deer. I'm currently looking at BuckStop, Ranch Hand, Renuel, Road Armor and Denver.

Just curious, after a run in with a deer will the insurance settlement be enough to fix your truck and pay for one of these bumpers? I've alway made out on minor insurance claims and was just wondering if this was the case with a deer accident?

Hey Steve nice bumpers... I just sent them an email to get a shipping quote to Alaska :D

My only concern is that it looks like the bars that come down by the headlights block the turn signal some and maybe the headlights a bit. It would be interesting to see what happens when you do the install. Its probably not a problem it just looks that way from the one front shot I could find. I drive with my fogs on all the time and run additional lights most of the time anyway so it would really not be a big problem.

On another note I wonder if I could find a powder coat to match the green color of my truck??

I found the powder coat shop that I'm going to use if I go that way here - http://www.customcoaters.com/ . They do have a shop listed in Anchorage, btw. The shop down here said that they have 7 different grays on hand and if I wanted to pay extra they could color match to pretty much anything. Buckstop was pretty limited in the colors they offered and didn't sound very interested in dealing with colors other than what they normally worked with. That's why I had them send them to me unfinished.

I know from personal experience that the powder coaters can order custom colors, you just have to pay for the minimum amount of powder that the powder producer requires.

Thanks Bob that saves the PM I was going to send you. .

John

By the way. . did you ever get those wheels done??
