So, the throw out bearing is making some noise when the clutch pedal is between the top and bottom of the stroke. A few times, the clutch has slipped just a bit after the pedal was released, almost as if the throw out bearing didn't slide back all of the way at first.
Secondly, the synchronizers are kind of 'notchy'. By that I mean there is a kind of detent as it slides into gear, mostly 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.
I will probably put the Southbend G56-OK in it.
The next question:
I'm thinking of rebuilding the transmission while it is out. It probably won't need much at this point.
How hard are they to rebuild? Is it worth buying a rebuilt unit?
What are the differences between the 2wd and 4wd transmissions? Can I take the tailpiece off of my g56, bolt in a transfer case, and put in a one piece drive shaft? (I would love to have the low range for backing trailers)
