Anybody know where to buy one of those bug screens that fits over your radiator under the grille? My '96 had one that was snapped in place, but it was so ratty looking that I chose not to keep it when I traded the truck.

I suppose I could just buy some screen and make one, but I thought I'd ask if anybody sells a quality piece first.

I don't know where to get one all made up, but I made one I have been quite happy with using $2 worth of aluminum window screen from my local hardware store, some wood strips to hold the edges, and a staple gun. It ain't fancy, but the bugs don't know the difference and it doesn't show unless the hood is open. #ad

ditto on the above... I just bought a roll and when it gets too dirty I replace it. :)

I also made my own screen - used a scrap piece of fiberglass screen and hold it in place with some strong circular magnets.

I'll chime in. A 3' x3' piece of screen works perfectly. I went to some effort and bent it at a 90 in two spots - tucked it under the bar above the radiator - removed the 4 nuts holding that wiring harness - tripled the screen at this location - and scooched it down over those 4 bolts and reinstalled the bolts. I did make sharp 90's and pounded the edges flat with a rubber mallett. A real proud installation! Now all them little buggers just shake off when I shake their final resting place. There ain't no way a better job could be done. At the next "show & shine" - this will be my entry and claim to fame!

oops! EDIT "reinstalled the NUTS"

Rob, can you get to the Ram Runners meeting on tuesday next week? One week from today? I'll show you my $3. 50 bug screen. Very low tech. Works great though.

I have read in my Trailer Life magazine that a 20" x 30" window screen will fit perfectly.

Haven't tried it myself so caveat emptor.

Well, let me get in my idea that worked for me. I also used aluminum window screen. I just measured enough to cover from side to side & top to bottom, but like a real man i used duct tape to cover my edges. Just placed screen on floor ,placed half the tape on the edge than flipped it over and folded the other half. I basically did this to keep all my edges from scraching anything up. I than found a hole on each side of the rail above the radiator and wired tied the screen up. this seems to be working alright for me so far.

All I did was get a oversize chunk of aluminum scree, sstuck it in front of the radiatior and stuff some of the extra in arond the top and the edges so it s shaped in their good. Stays all by itself.
