Competition Stock truck pull ?'s

Ive been kicking the Idea of puttin in 300' in the back field. What is the best soil that you pullers like to run on? Getting the equipment is not hard to do, and operating it is a breeze! so Im set on that as well as bringing in other soil. Ive got a small dirtbike track thats about to get the dozer.

A couple quick questions:

-Should it be crowned in the middle? Its obviously got to be level and that wont be hard with a lazer on the dozer boom and stationary transit.

-How wide ar the tracks? 25'?

-Should I run tile under it to keep it dry? If it was to be a dusty day Id run the sprayer down it a few times

Im "pulling" for thoughts/ideas and comments :D

Thanks guys

Ian

Build it just like a road. If at all possible, build it above the rest of the area. Nothing worse than having a brief shower, and all the water in the parking lots run onto the track!!

Keep it ditched, and tiled, level is best, but a slight crown won't hurt us any.

Or a slope, one way. A large crown makes it difficult to pick a line, and pull straight.

25' is enough, we found out we could pull on a lot less than that. Wider gives you more options for a line.

Stock car dirt track clay works well.

Anything that will pack well, and get some bite.

No rocks. :-laf

Does this mean that we can stop by and make practice hooks?

Whatcha going to use for a weight transfer sled?

I'd like to own enough land to do this... about the only pulling I could do in my yard is maybe what the kiddies compete in with the pedal power tractors. :-laf

oh yeah anyone is welcome! It wouldnt be a bit-time sled or anything but there is a local one that is used at a couple of the brush pulls for mini-rod tractors and mod pickups. Im hooked up to it in one of my photos in my readers rigs.

If I dont use it that much I can always brag that ive got 300' in the field. Id like to get into pulling some as soon and the DTT arrives this summer. So watch out BBD/Sleddy! ahhah ITS ON!!

At the last couple brush pulls I went to I was "booed" yes BOOED by some of the fans since they are all in favor of the gassers and there was 2 diesels (myself included) and a stock 02 24v ext cab short bed 4x4 that pulled. but the winner got me by 4'6" and it was a BUILT chev 454 (nice truck!!) and my stock trans wasnt liking it... for some reason it was locking/unlocking twords the end. Oh well there is always this year HeeHee!!

Oo. Oo. Oo. goody thats not to far away!!! i would think a good clay base would be good for pulling, set it at 2% grade from the center and that would drain, thats what the roads are set at. no need for all that fancy laser stuff just some paint and a dozer :D i say we make that track (dirt bike) a bit bigger and we could have some fun on it this summer, and in the winter it could be sled friendly.

Curtis- they will start mid-late summer and Ill keep everyone posted :D there are alot of ferd/dmax that go at it so we'll have to swamp the pull with trucks

Matt- string/paint whats that? I got the bike out today and tooked around for a bit thinking to myself "this track has to to be bigger" but since school and working now ive not ridden much. Im guessin the bike has less than 50hours on it (1998) so that shows how much i get out and ride. Plus its no fun chasing your shaddow for a few hours hahah (bro is at college and lost the bug to ride but anyone is welcoem to come down and bomb around) It would be OK for snowmobiles unless I borrowed the backhoe sometime this summer and made a few more jumps and what not. Right now its a table top, double, decaying whoops with banked turn and a good sized old Rail Road bed hill to climb. We did have a bit more before adding onto the house but some of the in hill cut outs were filled in with wood :( So I just mainly head to Black lake, Houghton lake, and Leota for the trails, Ive got to make it to Silver Lake this year though.
